Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine

Since this is a Gay Blog Aaron and I usually try to pick a POW with a gay theme, a gay character or at least the smallest bit of gay something in it. This is not always possible. Todays POW has not one bit of gay in it. It is a novel, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. My nightstand was empty of books so it was time to visit the local bookstore to browse. I can’t remember what made me pick Eleanor Oliphant up, but I’m sure glad I did. I identified with Eleanor throughout the book and I also found myself, smiling, laughing and getting very choked up at times. I urge any of you looking for an entertaining, heartwarming time to pick it up. After reading about a third of the book I found myself saying to Aaron, I have to find some time to read today. A true indication that I love the book.

Quite simply the novel is about Eleanor Oliphant. She is 29 years old and lives in Scotland. Eleanor is extremely bright but a total misfit who spends all of her time by herself except when at work where she prefers not top speak to anyone. The book follows Eleanor and her transformation into someone who begins to understand her past and enjoy life.

After I read the book I saw that Reese Witherspoon is making the book into a movie, so I guess I have a little taste. If anyone has suggestions for a POW let us know.
